Hypothetical question
Let's say you wanted to keep a character in pre indefinately, what would be the best primary.
Reason I ask is to like help out fellow guildies, friends and misc people that just needed some help with quests, etc. Considering that you would only be able to use the collector armor at best, and the very basic skills what are your opinions? |

Does it really matter? The only possible challenge would be the charr north of the wall. I would say if you are wanting to help people then monk would be the best fit.

Well if you are there to help others, Monk/Mesmer would be my choice. As a matter of fact it is my pre char. I keep one there to help guildmates through their quest. I have to go back as I just read some things have changed in pre so I will have to find out what, and find where changes where made.

I'd say smiting monk for sure. You can always change your 2ndary whenever you want, just don't declare. Smiting monk could farm the catacombs and establish a nice little Dye smuggling operation with his guildies. God knows if you got up to like level 10 you could kick some ass in there.

Warrior sucked in Pre-sear from my memories and going through it with one..
Smiting Monk is by FARRRR the easiest to use in Pre-sear. You get good smiting spells and still have space for prot./heal. at that stage in the game. The Catacombs is the second best farming place in Pre-sear, and even at low smiting attribute, a Monk can 1 or 2 hit kill the undead there lol. |

when i made my W/Mo in pre sear, the only way i could farm charr was with a monk primary helping me (because of healing breeze)...i tried with a ele and with a ranger, but we died too much....
Question: Do the charr level up if you die against them a lot? |

I would say it would be a toss-up between a Mo/Me and a R/Mo. Both offer good damage and the ability to heal the partner. The Mo/Me will have better damage and the Divine Favor healing bonus. The R/Mo will have the pet and the ability to smite and/or heal your partner. I would overall probably choose R/Mo at that early point in the game. You don't have cool enough monk skills to make use of Divine Favor at that point. Once you level that pet up to a certain point you could take your friend charr farming all day.
My vote: R/Mo first, Mo/Me second. |
